Stress Incontinence From An Active Lifestyle

 O-SHOT: Treating Stress Incontinence

Urinary Incontinence affects millions of women and now there is a technique called the O-Shot which uses your own blood called PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to alleviate many of these problems- particularly when it comes to stress incontinence.  We see many active women who will have weakness in the pelvic floor along with involuntary leakage of small amounts of urine with physical activity.  Physical therapy is very helpful for many of these women.  We are now finding that the O-Shot can greatly augment this process.

Incontinence may be caused by several different factors including childbirth, menopause (where hormones begin to decrease and tissues thin and have more laxity), chronic cough, and certain disease states.   The O-Shot uses a technique with PRP injected into the vaginal area to help regenerate new connective tissue.

The O-Shot is also used to treat Dyspareunia, or pain during intercourse, for women. Similar to incontinence, a number of determinants can lead a woman to experience Dyspareunia. This is another way that PRP therapy can repair damage in the pelvic floor.

Dr. Carlson has been trained for the O-Shot through the ACCMA.
